Rome walking tour: let's explore the Eternal City!

Gladiators, emperors, and the pulse of ancient Rome

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we definitely won’t see it all in one—but we’ll give it our best shot. Today, we dive into the heart of the Eternal City, walking through centuries of history, dodging Vespas, and making enough memories to last a lifetime. We kick off the day with a 3-hour walking tour; first stop: the Colosseum, where we step into the shoes (or sandals?) of gladiators and imagine the deafening roar of 50,000 Romans cheering on epic battles. If these walls could talk, they’d have some wild stories.

From there, we stroll through the Fori Imperiali, the political and social hub of ancient Rome. Here, emperors plotted, senators debated, and history was literally carved in stone. We wander among the ruins, picturing toga-clad Romans gossiping about Julius Caesar over goblets of wine. Spoiler: it didn’t end well for him.

Fountains, piazzas, and a dash of magic

After soaking in the grandeur of ancient Rome, we fuel up—whether it’s a classic carbonara or a quick slice of pizza al taglio, we make sure to eat like the Romans do. Next, we head to the Trevi Fountain, where the tradition is clear: throw a coin in and guarantee a return to Rome. We won’t question the magic—just follow the ritual, snap the obligatory photo, and move on with a little extra luck in our pockets.

A short walk away, we step into the Pantheon, where we crane our necks to take in the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world. No big deal—just another engineering marvel from 2,000 years ago that modern architects still can’t figure out. Finally, we land in Piazza Navona, a masterpiece of Baroque Rome. We admire Bernini’s fountains, watch street performers, and soak in the lively atmosphere. This is what Roman afternoons are made of—history, art, and the simple joy of people-watching with a gelato in hand.

We’ve walked, we’ve explored, we’ve lived our best Roman holiday. Now, it’s time to kick back. We find a rooftop bar, order a spritz or a glass of local wine, and toast to the Eternal City. Because let’s be real—after a day like this, we’re already planning our next trip back.

Included: breakfast, 3 hrs walking tour with local guide and overnight stay

Pure Roman magic
Show maps

Today, the Eternal City is ours to explore—no schedules, no rush, just pure Roman magic at our own rhythm. Want to check off a bucket-list masterpiece? Head to the Vatican Museums and prepare to be awestruck by Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel (insider tip: bring patience, because the crowds are very real). Craving a more local vibe? Wander the cobbled streets of Trastevere, grab an espresso, and people-watch like a true Italian. Or, if we’re feeling adventurous, let’s take a step off the beaten path and cycle along the Appian Way, one of the oldest roads in Rome, lined with ancient ruins and aqueducts.

However we choose to spend the day, let’s not forget to refuel with some cacio e pepe and a scoop (or three) of gelato!

Included: breakfast, and overnight stay

Money pot: public transportation, entry fees and optional excursions

Florence is a city that needs no introduction—home to Michelangelo’s David, breathtaking architecture, and a buzzing atmosphere that blends history with a modern, youthful energy. We’ll hop on a train from Rome and, in a couple of hours, find ourselves wandering through the heart of the Renaissance.

Included in our adventure is a three-hour walking tour with a local guide who will bring Florence to life with stories of Medici power, artistic genius, and hidden gems you’d never find on your own. We’ll stand in awe of the Duomo, stroll across the iconic Ponte Vecchio, and soak up the vibrant energy of Piazza della Signoria.

After the tour, it’s time to indulge—think creamy gelato, a classic panino from an old-school bottega, or a Florentine steak for those who are feeling bold. Florence is a feast for the senses, and today, we’re savoring every bit of it! In the afternoon we will proceed to Montecatini, our next stop and base for the next few days.

Focaccia and breathtaking views

Rise and shine, adventurers! Today, we’re heading to one of Italy’s most jaw-dropping coastal destinations: Cinque Terre. Picture pastel-colored villages perched on rugged cliffs, sparkling Mediterranean waters, and enough pesto to last a lifetime. We kick off with a private transfer to La Spezia, where our expert English-speaking guide will introduce us to this UNESCO-listed paradise. From here, we set sail—literally! First stop: Portovenere, a charming seaside town where colorful houses hug the harbor. Snap some pics, grab a gelato, and breathe in that salty sea air.

Next, we hop back on the boat and cruise along the stunning Ligurian coastline to Vernazza, often called the most beautiful of the five villages (we’ll let you decide!). Wander through narrow streets, admire the historic harbor, and maybe indulge in a glass of local white wine—because when in Italy, right? Our final boat ride takes us to Monterosso, famous for its sandy beaches and lively vibe. Here, we can dip our toes in the sea, explore the old town, or simply soak in the relaxed atmosphere before we board a train back to La Spezia and head home to Montecatini.

Included: breakfast, transportation, local guide and overnight stay

Money pot: tips and entry fees

Not included: food and drinks not mentioned above

Seasonal Note: from November to March, boat services take a winter break, so we’ll swap our sea legs for train rides between the villages. Same breathtaking views, just a different way to experience them!

We start the day the Italian way—breakfast in Montecatini, maybe a cappuccino and cornetto to fuel up for what’s ahead. Then, it’s all aboard! We hop on a second-class train to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella station—short and sweet, just enough time to admire Tuscany rolling past our windows.

Next up, we level up to high-speed travel: a sleek train whisks us from Florence to Venice in record time.

Arriving in Venice, we settle in and catch our breath—before the real adventure begins. Venice is calling, and for those who can’t wait to dive into its magic, there’s an optional tour to the colorful island of Burano and the charming canals of Murano. Think vibrant houses, world-famous glassmaking, and the kind of views that make our cameras work overtime. Whether we explore or take it easy, one thing’s for sure: we’re in for an unforgettable Italian experience. An immersion into the heart and soul of La Serenissima
Show maps

Imagine Venice at dusk—the golden light reflecting off the canals, the sound of soft chatter echoing through the narrow streets, and the scent of fresh cicchetti in the air. This isn’t just a tour; it’s an immersion into the heart and soul of La Serenissima. Our journey begins with a two-hour guided walk led by a local expert who will reveal Venice’s most enchanting secrets. From the grandeur of St. Mark’s Square to the hidden corners only Venetians know, every step tells a story.

And then, the real magic begins—the Bacaro tour. Picture yourself hopping from one cozy, dimly lit tavern to another, sipping on a glass of local wine while tasting the city's most beloved bites. Think crispy polpette, creamy baccalà, and the perfect slice of cicchetti—each a bite-sized masterpiece.

The afternoon is for us to explore Venice at our own pace. Drift through the canals on an optional gondola ride, glide past centuries-old palaces, and let the city unfold before our eyes. Prefer to stay on land? Let’s get lost among the artisan shops, then let’s sip an espresso by the Grand Canal, or let’s simply wander—because Venice is best discovered without a map.

As the sun sets on our adventure, we gather for one final dinner together. A toast to new friendships, unforgettable moments, and the magic of Venice—because this city doesn’t just steal your heart, it keeps a little piece of it forever.

Included: breakfast, Venice walking tour with local guide, Bacaro tour and overnight stay
