Itinerary - Norway Trekking: the hidden gem by the Svartisen Glacier

Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!

Once we arrive and check in to the hotel, we’ll have a welcome meeting to get to know each other and go over some details about the trip. After, we’ll go for dinner to savour local flavours featuring Arctic ingredients and genuine Northern Norwegian hospitality.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will have the morning to explore Bodø, whatever the weather brings! Why not a short hike to Keiservarden that offers 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape, giving us a teaser of the breath-taking views we’re about to experience during the trip!

In the afternoon, we will board the local bus that will take us to Svartisen national park– the journey is famously picturesque route of mountains and valleys which will be topped by a short ferry ride to our stay. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the Svartisen glacier as the perfect backdrop.

After settling in, we’ll enjoy a delightful dinner crafted by a private chef, allowing us to savour exquisite cuisine and discuss the plan for the next day! Don’t be surprised if you don’t feel tired yet– the midnight sun makes it feel like the night does not exist anymore 😉

Today, prepare to embark on an exhilarating journey as we hike (approx. 7km round trip) to the very edge of the majestic Svartisen Glacier. As we traverse the rugged terrain, each step brings us closer to the awe-inspiring power of this natural wonder. Feel the crisp air and cold glacier wind as we take in the moment that promises to connect us deeply with the raw beauty and force of nature.

After the hike, there is also an option to go to sauna and then take a dip into the glacier lake, if you’re not afraid to embrace the cold!

Today promises to be an even bigger adventure as we set out on a challenging 14-kilometer round trip hike to Tåkeheimen, Norway's most remote mountain cabin. The journey will test our stamina, but the spectacular rewards make every step worthwhile.

Upon reaching the cabin, we'll celebrate our achievement with a well-deserved cup of coffee and dig into our packed lunches, known as "matpakke." To top it off, we'll savour a "Kvikklunsj," embracing the true Norwegian spirit.

As we make our way back, the excitement continues with a delightful dinner at Brestua, a charming local restaurant nestled by the glacier lake.

It's a day of pushing limits and soaking in stunning landscapes!

Phew, the day before was exhausting! Today, it's all about taking it easy and doing what feels right for each of us - whether some of us choose to relax with a good book against the stunning backdrop of the fjord, enjoy a yoga session with a certified Iyengar teacher or bake and indulge in some well-deserved cinnamon buns.

However, if some of us still have energy and can’t get enough of the beautiful hikes, we have a few far less strenuous options ready! We can head ‘Prince Olav`s Way’  to the base of the glacier river through a small forest trail or to Fonndalen – a neighbouring valley in-between the mountains that we see through the living room window.

Now that we’re rested, it is time for a RIB boat trip to explore one of the surrounding islands, weather permitting. We might find ourselves heading to Rødøya, a dramatic island known for its tranquil beaches and the iconic Rødøyløva mountain, offering panoramic views that will take your breath away. Alternatively, we could venture to Bolga, famous for its mystical Bolgatinden mountain and the fascinating “eye” of Bolga known as Bolgbørra.

Whichever island we choose, we're in for a day of discovery, surrounded by the stunning beauty of Norway’s coastal treasures.

Upon return, we’ll enjoy a 3 course dinner crafted by a private chef which will be served in a traditional Norwegian barn.

As our incredible journey draws to a close, we begin our final day with a relaxing morning, perhaps savouring one of Norway's greatest treasures—delicious, freshly made waffles. It's the perfect way to soak in the last moments of tranquillity and reflect on the adventures we've shared.

In the afternoon, we'll embark on a ferry and bus ride back to Bodø, taking in the beautiful landscapes one last time. In the evening, we'll gather for a heartfelt farewell dinner, celebrating the memories we've created and the friendships we've forged. 

And just like that, our amazing adventure wraps up. It's time to say goodbye to the stunning landscapes and the wonderful new friends we've made along the way. Have a safe trip home and see you at your next WeRoad adventure!
