Itinerary
In the footsteps of an ancient civilization that fascinates the world: divided in two by the mighty Nile River, Egypt is home to incredible architectural wonders and friendly, charismatic people.
We start in Cairo, a city full of energy, its landscape dominated by the majestic Pyramids of Giza. Then we fly south to Aswan, the southern frontier of ancient Egypt, to visit the Temple of Isis and join a local Nubian family for dinner and dancing. Next, our floating hotel sets sail for a three-night Nile cruise past the eastern desert and traditional palm-covered villages: Edfu, home to the best-preserved temple in Egypt, the ruined city of Kom Ombo, Karnak Temple (2,000 BC) and the Valley of the Kings. The final stop is Luxor, for many the largest open-air museum on the planet. To wrap up, we fly back to Cairo for a toast!

Welcome to Egypt!
Check-in and our first dinner together
Round trip flights are not included in the package, so you can choose from where and when you want to fly. This is to give you maximum freedom of choice!
First evening in Cairo, ready to be dazzled by the sights and sounds of this wonderful city.
Check into the hotel in Cairo.
Tonight is all about making friends: what better way than gathering around the table to taste some local specialities?

Cairo: pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum
The Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza
Our first morning in Egypt and a special day ahead: by tonight we'll tick a few items off our bucket list!
We start with two of the most instantly recognizable landmarks on the planet: the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza, the last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
We've all seen photos and read books about them, but their majesty must be seen in person.
Over lunch, one question: how was an ancient civilization able to build such majestic works?

Aswan: the Temple of Isis
Flying to Aswan and the island of Philae
We say goodbye to Cairo and take a flight to Aswan, where a temple we simply cannot miss awaits.
Small speedboats take us to the Temple of Philae, on an island in the middle of the river, dedicated to Isis, goddess of marriage, health and wisdom.
We spend the afternoon admiring some of the most beautiful ancient engravings in Egypt. A thousand photos? At least!
Back on the mainland: dinner at the hotel and rest before the busy day ahead tomorrow.

Aswan: Abu Simbel and the Nile
Let's set sail!
After a busy few days, we slow down the pace: Aswan is not a place to rush!
A free day in Aswan and its surroundings: here the Nile is spectacular, with small palm-fringed islands and black granite boulders dotting the river that flows into Lake Nasser.
On the outskirts, colorful Nubian villages stand against a desert backdrop: the perfect place to see local life unfold.
Take a dip in the Nile, rent kayaks and explore under our own steam or, alternatively, organize a visit to the temples of Abu Simbel.
As the afternoon draws to a close, we board our cruise ship, home for the next 3 nights: a truly special sunset by the pool, cocktail in hand.

On the Nile: Kom Ombo
The temple of Edfu and Kom Ombo
A morning of our choice and an afternoon on the river: how does life on board feel?
After breakfast, relax or visit the Edfu Temple: built between 237 and 257 BC, it is one of Egypt's newest temples and therefore beautifully preserved.
Lunch on board during the short sail to Kom Ombo, perched picturesquely on the riverbank and dedicated to the gods of protection and fertility.
It features two symmetrical temples split down the middle. Don't miss the recently discovered mummified crocodiles!
In the late afternoon we're back on the boat to continue sailing, with dinner on board.

Along the Nile: Edfu and Karnak
Another dive into history
Another day full of discoveries in ancient Egypt!
In the morning we get off the ship to visit Edfu.
In the afternoon we set sail for Karnak, one of Egypt's most famous temple complexes, parts of which date back to 2,000 BC: our local guide shows us its hidden corners and helps us unlock its secrets.
Then we relax on board the boat that has been our home for the last few days, for yet another sunset made even more magical by the colors of Egypt.

The Valley of the Kings and Luxor
Royal tombs, colossi and a queen's temple
After breakfast we head to the West Bank of the Nile: even more stunning relics of an ancient world await!
The Valley of the Kings has been a royal burial site since 2,100 BC, and in total 63 magnificent royal tombs have been discovered. We visit three of them, learning about the funeral rites of the ancient Egyptians and the meaning of their paintings and hieroglyphics.
A stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues that once flanked the entrance to the tomb of King Amenhotep, grandfather of Tutankhamun.
Then the temple of Egypt's most famous queen, Queen Hatshepsut, in a spectacular natural setting.
Time to say goodbye to our floating hotel, but we still have time for Luxor, probably the most beautiful open-air museum in the world.

Cairo: Khan Al-Khalili and a farewell dinner
We return to the capital
A flight back to Cairo for our last full day in Egypt: how shall we spend it?
One place not to be missed: the Khan Al-Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in the world and a feast for the senses.
Wandering through the spice and gold markets, we sample popular street food and learn how it's made, before stopping for tea at the iconic Feshawi Café.
If there's time: Coptic Cairo with its churches and synagogues, Garbage City, whose residents are the city's waste collectors, or the exclusive Monastery of Saint Simon the Tanner.
In the evening, a farewell dinner with the group: let's raise a glass and put a check next to Egypt on our bucket list!
Goodbye Egypt!
