Brazil Expedition: from Salvador de Bahia to Chapada Diamantina
Brazil Expedition: from Salvador de Bahia to Chapada Diamantina
The trip in a nutshell
Ready to be immersed by the energy of Brazil? We are, and we're going all out! This 8-day trip to northern Brazil will take us to discover some places that are still relatively undiscovered, from Salvador de Bahia to Chapada Diamantina, whose natural landscapes will leave us speechless.
We start in Salvador de Bahia, where Afro-Brazilian rhythms fill the streets and since standing still is not our thing, we immediately jump right into a percussion and samba-reggae lesson (with questionable results, but who knows, maybe we’ll end up viral on TikTok).
Then we completely change scenery and venture into Chapada Diamantina, a true gem still far from mass tourism: here we spend two days fully immersed in pristine nature, based in the colorful Lençóis. Adventures await us among secret waterfalls, panoramic treks and natural pools that look straight out of a movie.
And to end on a high note? Two days of pure relaxation in Praia do Forte, where golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and sunset caipirinhas await. It will be difficult to return to reality, but one thing is certain: we will carry Brazil in our hearts – and probably in our legs as well, after all that dancing!

Salvador de Bahia: where the heart of Brazil beats to the rhythm of tambor!
Pillory & Food Tasting
We start the day with a journey through time, walking through the colorful streets of Pelourinho, the historic center of Salvador declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here, among colonial houses and baroque churches, we will breathe in the entire Afro-Brazilian soul of the city. With a bit of luck, we will come across some capoeira groups performing spectacular acrobatics to the rhythm of the berimbau.
After feasting our eyes on so much beauty, it's time to treat our taste buds too! An irresistible food tasting awaits us: caressed by the tropical breeze, we will taste Bahian specialties such as acarajé, a kind of fried meatball made with beans and shrimp, served with a generous dose of dendê (palm oil) and vatapá. And then, why not, a small glass of cachaça to toast to life!
Freedom and Samba-Reggae
The afternoon is free, but not to sit around doing nothing! If we want to feel like real locals, we can throw ourselves into a percussion and samba-reggae lesson and let the music guide us. Here the rhythm is contagious, and even those with two left feet will end up going wild. If we prefer to relax, we can opt for a trip to the beach and enjoy the sunset with a caipirinha in hand. Difficult choices, we know!
Time to say goodbye to Salvador, but the adventure doesn't stop! After a quick dinner of moqueca (a mouth-watering fish stew), we board our night bus and get comfortable. Direction: Chapada Diamantina, a natural paradise of canyons, waterfalls and caves to explore. Who will be able to sleep from the excitement? Tomorrow, new wonders await us!
Included: Pelourinho tour with street food and night bus
Money Pot: percussion and samba-reggae lesson (optional), local transport, tickets and entrances

Chapada Diamantina: Brazil's Hidden Gem
Exploring the wonders of Chapada Diamantina
At dawn, our night bus drops us off in Lençóis, and without wasting a moment we embark on an adventure through spectacular caves, crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views of the Chapada Diamantina.
We drive to Iraquara, the "capital of caves", and visit the majestic Lapa Doce, a natural rock cathedral. After a local lunch, we dive into the crystalline waters of the Blue Cave at Fazenda Pratinha, a corner of paradise where time seems to have stopped.
In the afternoon, we take the short 20-minute trek to the top of Morro do Pai Inácio. Here, the sunset colors the horizon with incredible shades, leaving us breathless in front of endless valleys and cliffs. With our hearts full of emotions and our minds already thinking of the next adventure, we return to Lençóis, ready to discover what tomorrow has in store for us.
Included: overnight stay with breakfast
Money Pot: Optional excursion to Iraquara including transportation, local assistance, entrance fees and lunch
Not included: meals and drinks where not indicated
Chapada Diamantina: Blue Well and Enchanted Well
The underground pools of Chapada
Today we wake up with a single mission: to explore two of the most incredible places in Chapada Diamantina. After a quick breakfast (no binge eating, we have to swim!), we jump on our transport and head towards Poço Encantado. Once we arrive at our destination, we find ourselves in front of a cave that seems to have come straight out of a fantasy film: the water is so transparent that we can see the bottom at almost 60 meters deep, as if it were suspended in nothingness. And if we get the timing right, a ray of sunlight enters the cave and illuminates the water with such an absurd blue that it seems like we are on Pandora – yes, like Avatar!
After filling our phones with amazing photos, we set off again towards Poço Azul. Here we don't just watch: we dive! Mask and snorkel in hand, we float in the crystalline waters of this natural underground pool. The sensation? A perfect mix of absolute peace and pure amazement. After the mystical dive, it's time to refuel with a local snack (because the emotion on an empty stomach doesn't pay off). Then, satisfied and with a few drops of water still in our hair, we head back towards Lencóis, carrying with us the memories of a truly magical day. And now? A shower, an ice-cold beer and a toast to the Chapada!
Included: overnight stay with breakfast
Money Pot: Optional excursion to Poço Azul and Poço Encantado including transportation and local assistance (does not include entrance fees and lunch)
Not included: meals and drinks
Heading to Praia do Forte, the pearl of the Bahian Coast
A long journey to the sea of Praia do Forte
The alarm goes off early today – we know, it’s not the best, but we have a good reason to do so: the sea awaits us! Backpack on, travel playlist ready and off we go for a long transfer to Praia do Forte. The journey may seem endless, but hey, who ever said that road trips aren’t part of the adventure? Windows down, tropical breeze and the constant thought of diving into crystal clear waters: time will fly!
Arriving at Praia do Forte, we are greeted by an atmosphere that smells of salt and freedom. This former fishing village is now one of the most beautiful pearls of the Bahian coast, with its postcard beaches, palm trees that seem to sway to the rhythm of bossa nova and the ocean that calls us loudly. The sand is golden, the sea is a hypnotic blue and the desire to dive in is instantaneous. After the long transfer, we can choose how to enjoy the afternoon. Those who want to relax can just put down their towel and not move until sunset, perhaps with a caipirinha in hand. Those who feel the call of adventure can snorkel in the natural pools formed by the coral reef or visit the Projeto Tamar, the marine turtle conservation center.
At the end of the day, the sun setting over the ocean gives us an unforgettable show, painting the sky with shades of pink and orange. The evening lights up with live music from the beach clubs: between a cold beer and a bit of improvised samba, we immerse ourselves completely in the overwhelming rhythm of Brazil. And tomorrow? Let's not think about it now: let's enjoy the moment!
Included: Overnight stay with breakfast and transfer from Lencois to Praia do Forte
Money Pot: Optional excursions to Praia do Forte
Not included: meals and drinks
Slow pace at Praia Do Forte
One program: total relaxation
Finally, a day without an alarm clock! Or rather, the alarm rings, but we can ignore it and allow ourselves the luxury of turning away. Today, time passes slowly, there is only one plan: total relaxation. And Praia do Forte is the perfect place to do it. We get up calmly and choose the pace of the day, because here everything is possible: some choose to lie down on the golden sand and be lulled by the sound of the waves, perhaps sipping a coconut water while the sun warms their skin. If the desire for movement takes over, the ocean offers spectacular natural pools, perfect for snorkeling among tropical fish or for a bit of stand-up paddle boarding on the crystalline waters.
After a morning like this, it's time to think about food. In Praia do Forte, the choice is easy and irresistible: a moqueca baiana, a fish stew slowly cooked with coconut milk and dendê oil, or a plate of acarajé , crispy bean fritters stuffed with shrimp and spicy sauce. Whatever the choice, every bite has the intense flavor of Brazil. The day slips away between chatter and moments of pure relaxation, until the sun begins to set and the golden light envelops everything. And the evening? Here, everyone chooses the perfect ending to their day: there are those who let themselves be carried away by the engaging rhythm of the forró, dancing until late at night, and those who prefer to enjoy the silence under a starry sky, swinging gently in a hammock. In Praia do Forte, there are no rules, only the pleasure of living in the moment.
Included: overnight stay with breakfast
Money Pot: Optional excursions to Praia do Forte
Not included: meals and drinks
Last day in Salvador: it ends with a bang!
Between shopping and a night that promises sparks
The day begins calmly. No loud alarm clock, no racing against time: today the focus word is “tranquility”. We treat ourselves to a leisurely breakfast – perhaps with a sweet tapioca and a good Brazilian coffee – and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Praia do Forte before setting off towards Salvador, the city where it all began.
After regaining our strength, we are ready to lose ourselves in the colorful streets of Pelourinho. The afternoon is free: we can dedicate ourselves to souvenir shopping (caipirinha kit, anyone?), a walk among the baroque churches and colonial houses or, why not, a last dip in the ocean waters.
But the real magic comes when the sun goes down: we all meet for a dinner together, a last chance to toast this adventure with a mouth-watering moqueca. And then? Then we dance! Because a night in Salvador is not just any night: between ao vivo music, samba and maybe a little axé, we say goodbye to Brazil in the most authentic way possible – with full hearts and feet that never stop moving.
Included: Overnight stay with breakfast and transfer from Praia do Forte to Salvador
Money Pot: Tickets and admissions
