Itinerary
A trip to Cuba will stay with you forever: the largest island in the Caribbean has a thousand facets and a controversial history, being the ultimate symbol of revolution. Escape the modern era – in Cuba you can truly get away from it all, and this is where all its charm lies. Who knows how long Cuba will stay the way it is, so now's the time to plan a trip here.
Our trip starts in Havana and quickly moves towards Viñales, where we visit the local tobacco plantations and learn how the famous Cuban cigars are made. Any trip to Cuba wouldn't be complete without some beach time, so let's head to Cayo Jutías before reaching the southern coast and the legendary Bay of Pigs, with stops at Playa Larga and Playa Girón; perfect places to relax and enjoy the crystal clear waters.
Next, we make a stop in Cienfuegos before losing ourselves in the colourful streets of Trinidad, where we can even try our hand at salsa. The adventure continues as we journey through the jungle of Topes de Collantes Natural Park, searching for hidden waterfalls, then explore the Valle de los Ingenios and immerse ourselves in sugarcane plantations, before spending a day on a boat departing from Playa Ancón. We will then cross the lush landscapes of the region, stop in Santa Clara following in the footsteps of Che Guevara, and finally arrive in Varadero to enjoy its white-sand beaches and breathtaking sunsets.
Our incredible adventure concludes back in Havana, ending this epic journey in style!

Viñales: sunrises and tobacco
1 night: Viñales
Heaven on earth
We set off from Havana to reach Viñales, a small town cradled by a nature reserve park and home to just a few thousand inhabitants. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, Viñales is a typical example of Caribbean life.
World-famous Cuban cigars are predominantly produced in… yep, you got it right, in Viñales! When we’re there it'll feel like the set of a film a we take a walk in the stunning countryside, surrounded by stretches of tobacco plantations and mixing with the locals. Needless to say, not only will we see how the cigars are produced, but we’ll be able to try them (and it’s perfectly legally to bring a few back home, don’t worry!).
What a better way to start getting to know each other than with Cuban specialities for our evening dinner? Arroz con pollo, some ajiaco... and of course plenty of cuba libres to toast to the beginning of our adventure.

Cayo Jutías
1 night: Viñales
Beach, nature and culture
Today will be an early wake up call as we start the day right with a beautiful scenic sunrise hike.
After breakfast back at our accommodation we're off to the coast today! Just an hour away from Viñales, the white beaches and crystal clear water of Cayo Jutías await us, but first there is an unmissable stop: the Mural de la Prehistoria. This painting has gone down in history for being the largest open-air mural in the world – it took 4 years to finish! It was designed by Leovigildo González Morillo and 40 people worked with him to complete it. A quick group photo and we're back the minivan on our way to our first Caribbean beach! We need to find the chiringuito (beach hut) that offerts the best piña coladas – served directly inside a coconut!
We will spend the day basking in the sun and enjoying the sea – or maybe having long walks to reach the mangrove forests that grow directly into the sea: the perfect place to take breath-taking photos which will make your colleagues back in the office so jealous! Alternatively, we can opt for a boat trip to Playa de Las Estrellas. This is an unspoiled white-sand beach with crystal clear water filled with so many wonderful starfish – but please don't touch them! In the evening we'll return to Viñales where we will have the chance to experience the famous Cuban hospitality – and who knows, perhaps we'll be taught a few steps of salsa!

Next stop - Playa Girón
1 night: Playa Girón
Crystal clear waters at Caleta Buena
We’ll leave Viñales after breakfast and head for the beautiful Playa Girón. Playa Larga and Playa Girón are two beaches overlooking the Bay of Pigs, which is particularly sought out by diving enthusiasts! We’ll seek out a traditional restaurant for lunch, which provides the perfect opportunity to try the local seafood. Lobster anyone? The afternoon is free for us to relax and enjoy time at Caleta Buena with its crystal-clear calm waters and stunning natural sea pools.

Morning of snorkelling then onto Trinidad
1 night: Trinidad
Snorkelling at Punta Perdiz
This morning begins with an unforgettable experience at Punta Perdiz, where crystal-clear waters invite us to enjoy magical snorkeling. Colorful fish, vibrant corals, and a sea of dazzling blue—an underwater dream come true.
Trinidad via Cienfuegos
Next, we head toward Trinidad, with a charming stop along the way in Cienfuegos. We stroll through the streets of its historic centre, where every building tells a story and the city’s elegant heritage comes to life.
After this well-deserved break, we continue on to Trinidad for a deep dive into its rich past. A guided walking tour of about two hours leads us through the city’s cobblestone streets, revealing its colonial architecture and the fascinating stories behind this UNESCO World Heritage site. A day that perfectly blends nature, culture, and adventure.

Topes de Collantes Nature Reserve Park
1 night: Trinidad
Forests and waterfalls
Buenos días, it’s time for more adventure! Topes de Collantes is a fascinating nature reserve park situated just outside Trinidad. We’re off to the Cuban jungle today – here we’ll be hiking accompanied by giant butterflies, vibrant hummingbirds and tropical plants. Yep, it probably will be hot and humid, but the sweat is definitely worth the views! Our destination is Caburní on a trail lined with thick, lush vegetation and breathtaking panoramic views. We’ll walk through coffee plantations and traditional Cuban villages before arriving at the famous Salto del Caburní waterfall, where glinting natural pools await. Anyone up for a refreshing dip? We’ll then head back to joyful Trinidad for dinner and, if you remembered to pack your dancing shoes, it's salsa lesson time!

Boat tour to Cayo Blanco
1 night: Trinidad
Vamos a la playa!
In the morning we’ll be driven down to Playa Ancón, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Cuban coast. White sand, turquoise waters, beach huts, straw parasols and palm trees... Playa Ancón is the perfect place to wind down.
Right before lunch we’ll get on on a catamaran to Cayo Blanco… feeling just like Pirates of the Caribbeans! It wouldn’t be a proper day by the sea without a boat trip – which will be topped with mojitos and cigars all day long. Once we’re back on dry land we’ll just have to wait for the right moment: a group picture at sunset on the Cuban seaside is a must do!

Towards Varadero via Santa Clara!
1 night: Varadero
Exploring Santa Clara
This morning, we leave Trinidad and set off towards Varadero, famous for its endless stretches of white sandy beaches. Along the way, we stop for around three hours in Santa Clara, where the history of the Cuban Revolution comes to life through a guided visit and an exploration of the Che Guevara Museum. A meaningful journey into the past before continuing on to our next destination.
White sand beaches at Varadero
On from Santa Clara we find ourselves in the picture-perfect sand and crystal-clear water of Varadero – a 22 kilometre-long white-sand beach for an afternoon of total relaxation. In the evening, we settle on the beach to watch a spectacular sunset, followed by refreshing cocktails under the stars. Varadero promises unforgettable moments, combining natural beauty with pure relaxation.

Varadero: A Tropical Paradise
1 night: Varadero
Blue, blue and more blue
Today is a free day in Varadero, and the choice is ours! Whether we prefer to relax or seek adventure, this dream beach with its white sand and crystal-clear waters promises an unforgettable day.
We can enjoy a boat ride, explore the underwater world while diving, or simply unwind under the sun with a good book. If we feel like it, you can also explore the surroundings and soak up the town’s unique atmosphere.
In the evening, the options are endless: enjoy dinner at one of the many seaside restaurants or sip cocktails on the beach, serenaded by the sound of the waves. A perfect day to recharge, relax, and savour every moment!

Back to Havana
1 night: Havana
The magic of Old Havana
Today, we will spend the day exploring the sights and history of Cuba’s capital. We’ll start with a walking tour through the heart of the city, soaking up the atmosphere of Old Havana. The entire district is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and at every corner there will be something to photograph: the classic American cars from before the revolution, hotels that once hosted lavish parties during the American Prohibition, the Bacardí Palace where the famous rum was created, the Payret cinema, and the legendary Floridita restaurant.
After strolling through the streets and main squares, each reflecting five centuries of colonial history in their varied architectural styles—Plaza de Armas, Plaza Vieja, and Plaza de la Catedral—we can relax with a refreshing mojito at the iconic Bodeguita del Medio, once frequented by Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Neruda.
An evening to explore
The rest of the day is free to enjoy the city at our own pace. We can have a drink on the Malecón, the famous waterfront promenade, and try a meal at a seaside restaurant. For a unique experience, we can take a ride in a coco-taxi, a motorised tuk-tuk, and sample Cuba’s favourite drinks—its beers, from the strong Bucanero Fuerte to the lighter Cristal.

Walking the streets of Old Havana
1 night: Havana
Vintage car tour
Our exploration continues today as vintage cars drive us through the captivating streets of Havana for the next two hours. We'll visit the iconic Plaza de la Revolución, featuring the faces of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos, as well as the majestic memorial to Jose Martí. We will then move west towards the enchanting Fusterlandia district, adorned with colourful mosaics by artist José Fuster, which will transport us into a whimsical world.
Next, we visit a social project, giving us the chance to interact with locals and gain a deeper understanding of everyday life—a truly authentic experience. After this immersion, we return to our cars for one last exploration of the city.
Final evening together
The evening is free to enjoy Havana at our own pace. For the more adventurous, we can end the day at Castillo del Morro, the city’s highest point, to watch a spectacular sunset before witnessing the Cañonazo ceremony, a historic ritual that marks the close of the day. Afterwards, we’ll head to a restaurant for our final group dinner, reflecting on a day full of discoveries!

About Cuba
If you are a UK citizen, to find out the entry requirements for Cuba, you can check this informational page from our partner Sherpa. If you need a visa, you can apply for it through Sherpa. If you are not a UK citizen, you can still use Sherpa by changing the nationality in the 'Passport' section.
Before traveling, always remember to check the government website of your country of origin for updates on the entry requirements for Cuba – you wouldn’t want to stay home due to a bureaucratic detail!
- UK residents: review the FCDO Travel Advice.
- US residents: consult the US Department of State Travel Advice.
- Other residents: refer to your government or local consulate's travel advice.
Cuba operates on Cuba Standard Time (CST). Keep in mind that Cuba observes daylight saving time, usually from March to November, when the clocks go forward by one hour. Always double-check the current time difference when planning your trip.
The currency in Cuba is the Cuban Peso (CUP). You can exchange your money at official exchange offices, banks, or hotels. It's a good idea to bring euros or Canadian Dollars for better exchange rates, as US Dollars might incur a hefty fee.
Cash is the most common payment method in Cuba. Credit cards are not widely accepted, so it's best to bring Euros or Canadian Dollars to exchange into Cuban Pesos at local banks or official exchange offices (CADECA). It's always a good idea to carry small denominations for everyday transactions.
Yes, tipping is common in Cuba and generally appreciated as a gesture of gratitude. In restaurants, a tip of around 10 percent of the bill is customary. For hotel staff like bellboys or housekeeping, a small tip in cash is also appreciated. When taking taxis, rounding up the fare or adding a little extra is a nice gesture. It's a good idea to bring a universal adapter to cover all your bases, especially if your devices are from Europe, where the voltage and plug types are different.

About WeRoad
Return international flights are not included on our trips because we want to give you full autonomy and flexibility. You can choose your preferred airline, fly from the airport that works best for you, and decide how many stopovers you want to make along the way.
As flights are not included, you also have more flexibility with your travel dates: you could arrive at your destination a few days early or return home a bit later – or even continue independently to a nearby destination!
An "Available" departure means that the trip isn’t confirmed yet and we’re waiting for a few more travellers to sign up… which could be you!
If you book the trip please wait for it to be confirmed before booking your international flights.
The question of all questions! Here’s some more information:
- The Money Pot is a common fund collected in local currency from all travellers on the trip and managed by your Travel Coordinator.
- It is used to streamline payments for extra activities, goods and services that the whole group decides to do. This guarantees flexibility in choosing activities and excursions at the destination in line with the mood of the group.
- It is typically collected on the first day of the trip in local currency, although at times, the Travel Coordinator may ask for it to be paid before departure.
- You’ll find the Money Pot amount on the website under the section ‘What’s included in the Money Pot’. To find this look for ‘What’s included’, scroll down to ‘Money Pot? Click here’ and you’ll find the details.
- The amount varies depending on the destination chosen.
- It is usually used for group expenses that all travellers decide to take part in, but sometimes if you opt out of an activity it might make more sense for it to come out of the Money Pot. In these cases the Coordinator will return the amount for this activity back to you at the end of the trip.
- It is estimated based on the experience of other groups but can vary depending on what activities your group is keen for. As such, the Travel Coordinator may need to increase the amount during the trip.
- If not all of the Money Pot is spent, the difference will be returned to all travellers at the end of the trip.
- The Money Pot also covers the Travel Coordinator’s share of the activities included in the Money Pot, except for those activities that are free for the Travel Coordinator.
- If you pay in advance for part of the Money Pot before the trip for certain non-refundable optional activities, unfortunately, the amount cannot be refunded if the trip is cancelled.
We offer several payment methods to fit every need:
1. Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express);
2. Instalment payment with Klarna (you’ll pay for the trip in three equal amounts);
3. PayPal (for selected destinations);
4. Revolut Pay to pay even faster straight from your Revolut account.
Anyone who books a WeRoad trip has the option to cancel or modify the trip – including both the dates and the destination – free of charge up to 31 days before departure. In case of cancellation up to 31 days before departure, you will receive a 100% refund of the WeRoad trip price. If you make a change, a price adjustment will be applied to the new trip chosen – meaning, if the new trip is cheaper, we will refund the difference; if it’s more expensive, you will need to pay the difference.
If you’ve purchased the Flexible Cancellation Option (which you can add in the first step of the booking process), you can request a cancellation or trip change until 8 days before departure. In case of cancellation, you’ll receive a 100% refund of the WeRoad trip price, minus the cost of the Flexible Cancellation option.
How to request a cancellation or change to your trip? Send us an email at [email protected] or a WhatsApp on +447716573700. Please share the booking reference for the trip you want to cancel or change, and, in case of a change, the new trip you would like to join.

Typically, you’ll stay in hotels, apartments, guesthouses and hostels with the same standard maintained across all trips in the same destination.
The list of accommodation for your trip will be shared with you by your Travel Coordinator 2-5 days before departure, along with other useful details for your adventure!
Yes! We might not know the flights for everyone else in the group, but there are ways to find out which flights your fellow WeRoaders will be taking.
1. All travellers can share their flight details after booking on their My WeRoad account so that other travellers on the same trip can see these details anonymously.
2. Alternatively you can join our Facebook group: Solo Travellers | WeRoad Community – (here is the extended link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/963298767843213 ) Look for a post about the trip you’re interested in or ask the group admin for help in getting in touch with your future travel companions!
3. If the Coordinator has already been assigned to the trip you’re keen for, you can easily find their Facebook post on the website. Click 'Ask the Coordinator' and follow the link here.

You will never share with people from outside of the WeRoad group, except in certain cases for local experiences, which are specifically mentioned in the itinerary or communicated before booking. These typically involve specific nights in unique accommodation like tents, homestays, or camping, offering a more adventurous travel experience in exchange for some comfort.
